This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking and packaging of ultrasound therapy equipment. This standard applies to ultrasound therapy equipment (hereinafter referred to as "equipment") with a frequency range of 0.5 MHz to 5 MHz, which generates continuous or quasi-continuous ultrasound energy using planar circular ultrasound transducers. This standard does not apply to equipment with an effective sound intensity greater than 3 W/cm2 or equipment that uses focused ultrasound waves.
