This standard specifies the general terms of metal cutting machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, boring machines, grinding machines, gear processing machines, thread processing machines, planing machines and slotting machines, drawing machines, sawing machines, combination machine tools and automatic lines of combination machine tools, scribing machines, tube processing machines, machine tool accessories, motion, parameters, components, and processing methods, together with their definitions. This standard applies to general-purpose metal cutting machine tools (hereinafter referred to as machine tools).
