This standard specifies the test methods, calculation methods, and production consistency inspection and determination methods for calculating fuel consumption by carbon balance method through measuring the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrocarbons (HC) from automobiles.
This standard applies to N1 class vehicles powered by spark-ignition engines or compression-ignition engines with a maximum design speed of 50 km/h or more, and M1 and M2 class vehicles with a maximum design total mass of not more than 3,500 kg. M1 class vehicles with a maximum design total mass exceeding 3,500 kg may refer to this standard for implementation.
This standard applies to vehicles that can run on gasoline or diesel, and does not apply to hybrid electric vehicles; vehicles with other fuel types may refer to this standard for implementation.
