GB/T 42664-2023 Non-destructive testing of steel tubes—Automated ultrasonic testing of the weldseam of welded steel tubes for the detection of longitudinal and/or transverse imperfections
Abstract
This document specifies the requirements for automatic ultrasonic transverse wave (generated by conventional or phased array technology) testing of welded seams in submerged arc welded (SAW) steel pipes or resistance welded and induction welded (EW) steel pipes.
For SAW steel pipes, the testing includes the detection of defects mainly parallel to the weld, or perpendicular to the weld according to the agreement, or the detection of defects in both directions.
For EW steel pipes, the testing includes the detection of defects mainly parallel to the weld. For longitudinal defects, the manufacturer may choose to use Lamb wave testing.
For defects at the welded seams of EW pipes, full-circumferential ultrasonic testing can be carried out.
This document is also applicable to the detection of circular hollow sections.
Note: For full-circumferential ultrasonic testing of seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes (except SAW steel pipes), see ISO 10893-10.
