This standard specifies the determination methods for the migration of eight benzophenone-type substances in food contact materials and products.
The first method, liquid chromatography, is applicable to the determination of the migration of (2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)(2-hydroxyphenyl)methone, 2,4-dihydroxydibenzophenone, (2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)phenylmethone, 4,4′-dihydroxydibenzophenone, 2-hydroxy-4-n-octoxydibenzophenone, 2-hydroxy-4-nhexoxydibenzophenone, benzophenone, and 4,4′-difluorodibenzophenone from plastics, paints and coatings, rubber, and food contact materials and products using ink in water, 4% (by volume) acetic acid, 10% (by volume) ethanol, 20% (by volume) ethanol, 50% (by volume) ethanol food simulants, as well as chemical substitute solvents such as 95% (by volume) ethanol and isooctane.
The second method, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, is applicable to the determination of the migration of (2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)(2-hydroxyphenyl)methone, 2,4-dihydroxydibenzophenone, (2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)phenylmethone, 4,4′-dihydroxydibenzophenone, 2-hydroxy-4-noxoxydibenzophenone, 2-hydroxy-4-nhexoxydibenzophenone, benzophenone, and 4,4′-difluorodibenzophenone from plastics, paints and coatings, rubber, and food contact materials and products using ink in water, 4% (by volume) acetic acid, 10% (by volume) ethanol, 20% (by volume) ethanol, 50% (by volume) ethanol food simulants, as well as chemical substitute solvents such as 95% (by volume) ethanol and isooctane.
