This standard applies to electronic devices designed to be powered by grid electricity, power supply equipment, batteries, or remote power supply systems, and intended to receive, generate, record, or play back audio, video, and related signals. This standard also applies to devices designed to be used specifically in combination with the aforementioned devices.
This standard is primarily applicable to devices for household and similar use, but it can also be used in public gathering places, such as schools, theaters, places of worship, and workplaces. This standard also applies to professional equipment used in the aforementioned venues, unless such professional equipment is already subject to specific regulations in other standards.
This standard only addresses the safety of the aforementioned devices, and does not address other characteristics, such as design or performance.
If the aforementioned devices are designed to be connected to communication networks or similar networks using an integrated modem, this standard also applies to such devices.
