This standard specifies the requirements and test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage for gasoline engine oils made from refined mineral oil, synthetic oil, or a blend of refined mineral oil and synthetic oil, with the addition of various additives. The products covered by this standard are suitable for lubricating automotive four-stroke gasoline engines used under various operating conditions, such as those in cars, light trucks, trucks, and buses.
