The vibration test method provided in this document is used to verify the ability of samples to withstand dynamic loads without unacceptable functional and/or structural integrity degradation during specified vibration tests defined by time histories (long-term histories reproduction). These time histories may come from actual measurement records or be artificially generated. In either case, this test method enables tailoring of tests for very specific applications. Typical applications of this method are cases where the motion characteristics of transient deterministic vibration, periodic vibration, or random vibration tests required are very special and cannot be covered by other test standards, including those that cannot be adequately characterized by the classic impact of IEC 60068- 227, the impact response spectrum of IEC 60068- 281, or the periodic sinusoidal vibration of IEC 60068- 26, or the Gaussian or non-Gaussian (high kurtosis) broadband random vibration of IEC 60068- 264. Of course, users also understand that the time histories used for long-term history reproduction are deterministic, while any simulation of random vibration is approximated by quasi-random methods. Additionally, to generate time histories capable of characterizing the required signals, this test method may be combined with other methods, which can make the tests very complex. The purpose of this test is different from that of IEC 60068- 257. The main purpose of IEC 60068- 257 is to evaluate transient vibration using synthetic time histories. However, long-term history reproduction tests are primarily used for durability and functional testing based on actual time histories measured in real environments. It can also be used as a method of simulating non-Gaussian time histories.
