This part of GB/T 18779 provides determination rules for cases where the default rules of GB/T 18779.1 may not be economically optimal.
Note 1: GB/T 18779.1 provides a default determination rule, according to which, if the measured value indicates acceptance of a product, it is highly likely that the corresponding measured parameters of the product comply with the specifications.
Note 2: To change the determination rule from a default rule to a rule specific to a particular task, an agreement between the parties involved is required.
This part does not address how to determine the cost of correct or incorrect determinations ("correct determination" refers to accepting a qualified product or rejecting an unqualified product, and "incorrect determination" refers to accepting an unqualified product or rejecting a qualified product), as this is a commercial matter. However, this part provides the terminology and requirements that organizations need to communicate and implement specific determination rules, along with examples to guide their application.
Note 3: The determination rules in this part apply to a single measurement characteristic under consideration. Unless otherwise specified, all probability distributions discussed in this part are Gaussian distributions with a central location, and the cost function is a simple step function. However, the principles of this part can be applied to any probability distribution function or cost function.
This part is applicable to measurement inspections of workpieces and measuring equipment in product geometric technical specifications, and it is also applicable in industrial applications.
