GB/T 39691-2020 Plastics—Determination of refractive index
Abstract
This standard specifies two test methods for determining the refractive index of plastics:
Method A: Refractometer method. The refractive index of molded parts, die-cast or extruded plates, or films is measured using a refractometer. It is suitable for isotropic, transparent, semi-transparent, colored, or opaque materials, as well as anisotropic materials. When high-precision testing is required, this method is recommended. This method is not suitable for powdered or granular samples.
Method B: Microscope immersion method (using the Beck line phenomenon). This method can be used to determine the refractive index of powdered or granular transparent materials. Generally, monochromatic light should be used to avoid dispersion effects. This method is suitable for isotropic semi-transparent materials and colored materials, but not for opaque materials and anisotropic materials.
