This standard specifies the bibliographic items, recording order, symbols, and text used for references to information resources of various disciplines and types, as well as the methods of recording each bibliographic item and the methods of marking references in the main text. This standard is applicable to authors and editors who record references, rather than the bibliographic recording rules used by librarians, bibliography compilers, and index editors.
