Abstract
This section is a test specification for metal oxide varistors used to protect equipment, personnel, or both from high transient voltages in power supply lines of 1,000 V or less, or direct current of 1,500 V or less, and in communication and signal systems. This specification applies to double-electrode MOVs and does not apply to hybrid devices. This specification also does not consider the impact of spare parts and their installation on the characteristics of MOVs. The characteristics given here only apply to MOVs installed in the manner described in the test.
