This standard defines, describes, and classifies the characteristics, visual changes, and possible causes of rolling bearing failure during use, in order to help understand various forms of visual changes and failures. For the purposes of this standard, the term "rolling bearing failure" refers to a situation where the bearing fails to meet the predetermined design performance requirements due to defects or damage.
