Abstract
This document systematically describes the concepts related to human identification in the field of biometric recognition, and harmonizes various terms and priority terms used in existing biometric recognition standards, thus clarifying the use of terms in this field.
This document is applicable to various technical branches of biometric recognition, such as biometric recognition systems, interfaces, devices, and applications, as well as interoperability and data exchange in various fields and related systems.
Concepts expressed in terms such as information technology, pattern recognition, biology, and mathematics are not within the scope of this document. These knowledge fields are the foundation of biometric recognition.
In principle, pattern-specific terms are also not within the scope of this document.
The terms defined in this document are indicated in bold. Non-bold terms should be understood according to the meaning of natural language.
