Abstract
This document stipulates the classification and coding principles, classification schemes, coding schemes, and principles of classification and code expansion for basic geographic information elements, identifying the types of basic geographic information elements in numerical form.
This document is applicable to the collection, updating, management, distribution, expression, and application services of basic geographic information data, including the construction and application of basic geographic information databases, the construction of public platforms for basic geographic information, the exchange and sharing of basic geographic information among different systems, as well as digital mapping, map compilation, and map updating.
