GB/T 14536.3-2022 Automatic electrical controls—Part 3:Particular requirements for thermal motor protectors
Abstract
The chapter of GB/T 14536.1-2022 applies to all aspects except the following content. Replacement: This document applies to some evaluation of motor thermal protectors defined in GB/T 14536.1 for household and similar applications, including those used in heating, air conditioning, and similar applications, as well as in enclosed (sealed and semi-sealed) motor compressors. Note: Motor thermal protectors are considered an integrated controller, and their protection function depends on their correct installation and fixation inside or on the surface of the motor, and can only be fully tested in combination with the relevant motor. This dependency is explained by the following points: -- Motor thermal protectors can accurately and reliably detect the heating of the motor winding, solving the problem of excessive temperature in the motor during overload; -- Motor thermal protectors can accurately and reliably detect the current value during motor stall, thereby reducing the response time of the thermal protector and protecting the assembly point from the adverse effects of heat dissipation problems; -- The electromagnetic field of the motor affects the opening action of the motor thermal protector, especially the direction of the arc between the contacts, causing uneven wear of the contact materials and ultimately leading to operational failure. The combined test requirements for enclosed (sealed and semi-sealed) motor compressors and motor thermal protectors are listed in IEC 60335-234. This document applies to motor thermal protectors using NTC or PTC thermistors, with additional requirements included in Appendix J.
