GB/T 5028-2008 Metallic materials—Sheet and strip—Determination of tensile strain hardening exponent
Abstract
This standard specifies the method for determining the tensile strain hardening index (n value) of metal sheets and strips.
This method is only applicable to the part of the stress-strain curve that shows a monotonous and continuous increase within the range of plastic deformation (see 7.4).
If the stress-strain curve of the material shows a sawtooth pattern during the processing hardening stage (such as the Portevin-Le Chatelier sawtooth yielding effect exhibited by some AlMg alloys), in order to ensure the repeatability of the results, an automatic measurement method should be used (linear regression of the logarithm of the true stress against the true plastic strain, see 7.7).
