This standard specifies the requirements for personal and property safety, as well as environmental protection related to refrigeration systems and heat pumps, and establishes procedures for the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems, as well as the recovery of refrigerants.
This standard specifies the classification, selection principles, and limits on the amount of refrigerant charge for refrigeration systems and heat pumps.
This standard also specifies the requirements for the design, construction, and installation of refrigeration systems (including the pipelines, components, materials, and auxiliary equipment directly connected to them), as well as requirements for testing, commissioning, marking, and document preparation. Except for safety devices related to refrigeration systems, the requirements for secondary heat transfer loops are not included in this standard.
This standard also specifies safety requirements related to the installation site. These requirements may be necessary for the refrigeration system and its auxiliary components, but they are not necessarily directly related.
The safety and environmental requirements specified in this standard also apply to the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems, as well as the recovery, reuse, and disposal of various refrigerants, refrigerant oils, heat transfer fluids, and refrigeration systems and their components.
This standard applies to:
a) All fixed or mobile refrigeration systems, including heat pumps, of any size;
b) Secondary cooling or heating systems;
c) Installation sites of refrigeration systems;
d) Parts or components replaced or added after the adoption of this standard, if their functions and capabilities have changed before and after the change;
e) New refrigeration systems, improved versions of existing systems, modified systems, systems with changed refrigerant types, and old systems relocated
