This document specifies the important dimensions related to the mechanical interchangeability of RM-type magnetic cores made of ferrite and low-profile RM-type magnetic cores, as well as the position of the coil skeleton lead pins related to the bottom contour of the magnetic cores on a 2.54 mm pitch printed circuit board grid. At the same time, according to relevant general specifications, guidelines for the allowable limits of surface defects on RM-type magnetic cores are provided. The selection of magnetic core specifications in this document is based on the principle that these specifications are industry-standard specifications, or have been included in national standards, or have a broad industrial application base. This document is used as a sub-guide in the negotiation of surface defects between magnetic core manufacturers and users. Appendix A provides general considerations for the design of such magnetic cores.
