Abstract
This standard specifies the product classification, requirements, and test methods for industrial hexane obtained from the refining of petroleum distillates, as well as inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, and safety. This standard applies to hexane solvents used in chemical synthesis (such as the polymerization of polypropylene, polybutylene, and ethylene-propylene rubber) and industrial hexane used in the preparation of adhesives, paints, inks, and various extraction processes. This standard does not apply to hexane used for the extraction of edible vegetable oils and proteins.
