Abstract

This document describes the test method for determining the content of aromatic hydrocarbons in middle distillates using high-performance liquid chromatography with a differential refractive index detector.
This document is applicable to the determination of the content of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and tricyclic+ aromatic hydrocarbons in diesel with a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) volume fraction of not more than 30%, diesel with a FAME volume fraction of not more than 7%, and petroleum distillates with a distillation range of 150 ℃~400 ℃. The content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is obtained by adding the content of bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and tricyclic+ aromatic hydrocarbons, and the total aromatic hydrocarbon content is obtained by adding the content of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and tricyclic+ aromatic hydrocarbons.
This document includes two steps: Step A and Step B. Step A is applicable to the determination of the content of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and tricyclic+ aromatic hydrocarbons in diesel with a FAME volume fraction of not more than 30% and petroleum distillates with a distillation range of 150 ℃~400 ℃, where the content of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (mass fraction) is 6%~30%, the content of bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (mass fraction) is 1%~10%, the content of tricyclic+ aromatic hydrocarbons (mass fraction) is 0%~2%, the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (mass fraction) is 1%~12%, and the total aromatic hydrocarbon content (mass fraction) is 7%~42%. Step B is applicable to the determination of the content of aromatic hydrocarbons in diesel with a FAME volume fraction of not more than 7%, and the total aromatic hydrocarbon content (mass fraction) is 0.2%~2%.
Note: Generally, the type of aromatic hydrocarbons is defined based on their elution properties on a specific liquid chromatograp
