GB/T 30834-2022 Rating and classifying of inclusions in steel—Scanning electron microscope method
Abstract
This document specifies the equipment used for evaluating and statistically analyzing non-metallic inclusions in steel by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the calibration and verification of the equipment, sampling, sample preparation, test procedures, inclusion classification, grading and statistics, inspection reports, accuracy, and deviations.
This document recommends three inspection methods. Method 1 mainly classifies inclusions based on their morphology, and Method 2 mainly classifies inclusions based on their chemical composition. Methods 1 and 2 are suitable for microscopic evaluation of non-metallic inclusions larger than 2 μm in rolled or forged steel with a compression ratio of greater than or equal to 3. Method 3 is used to determine the specific details of a certain type of inclusions, such as volume fraction and quantity fraction, etc., and is suitable for statistical classification of inclusions of all sizes (including those smaller than 2 μm) in various cast billets or steel materials.
