This document, as a general electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) emission standard, is only applicable to the case where no dedicated product or product category EMC emission standards have been published.
The emission requirements specified in this document apply to electrical and electronic equipment used in residential environments (see 3.1.14), as well as to electrical and electronic equipment used in other environments that are not covered by IEC 61000-6-4 or IEC 61000-6-8.
The purpose of developing this document is to ensure that all equipment used in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments is covered by this document or IEC 61000-6-8. In case of discrepancies, the requirements of this document shall apply.
This document specifies the requirements for conducted and radiated emission tests up to a frequency range of 400 GHz, with the aim of providing sufficient protection for receiving equipment used in the electromagnetic environments specified above. The tests specified in this document do not cover all interference phenomena, but only those related to equipment operating in the environments listed in this document.
The emission requirements of this document do not apply to the intentional emissions of radio transmitters defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and their harmonics.
Note 1: This document does not include safety requirements.
Note 2: In special circumstances, the limits specified in this document may not provide sufficient protection. For example, when sensitive receiving equipment is used near the equipment. In these cases, additional improvement measures may be necessary.
Note 3: This document does not include interference generated by equipment malfunctions.
