This part of the "Explosive Environments" standard specifies the test methods and classification principles for determining the maximum experimental safety gap of gas/air or vapor/air mixtures under normal temperature and pressure conditions, providing guidance for the classification of gases and vapors; it also gives the characteristic parameters of common flammable gases and vapors, so that appropriate equipment can be selected. This method does not consider the possible impact of obstacles on the safety gap. This part also specifies the test methods for determining the auto-ignition temperature of chemically pure vapors or gases in air under atmospheric pressure.
