Scope

This document specifies a method for describing the geometric elements of rigid body motion. The motion of these elements has the following characteristics: \
a) The elements move within any spatial object domain specified in ISO 19107. \
b) The elements can move along a predefined path or deviate from it. \
c) The motion of the elements can be influenced by physical forces, such as centrifugal force, gravity, or inertia. \
d) The motion of one element can affect or be affected by other elements, for example: \
1) Moving elements can travel along a predefined path (e.g., a road), which may be part of a road network and may change direction at known points (e.g., bus stops, air routes). \
2) Two or more moving elements can be "pulled" together or "pushed" apart (e.g., aircraft refueling in the air, predators detecting and tracking prey, refugees gathering and merging). \
3) Two or more moving elements can be constrained to maintain a given spatial relationship for a period of time (e.g., tractors, trailers, convoys). \
This document does not address other types of changes to elements, examples of which include: \
—— Deformation of elements; \
—— Inheritance of elements or element associations; \
—— Changes to non-spatial attributes of elements; \
—— The geometric representation of elements cannot be embedded in a geometric complex containing the geometric representations of other elements, otherwise, the geometric representations of other elements need to be updated with the motion of this element. \
Since this document involves the geometric description of element motion, it does not specify a mechanism for describing element motion using geographic identifiers. This part has been completed in ISO 19133.
