Scope

This document describes the determination of the migration levels of N-nitrosamines and their precursors in the following toys and toy materials using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).
—— Elastomeric toys and toy elastomeric components.
—— Finger-painting paints.
Examples: Elastomeric toys such as balloons and teething rings.
Note: For elastomeric materials, N-nitrosamines and their precursors have mainly been detected in vulcanized materials so far.
This document is applicable to the determination of the migration levels of 13 types of N-nitrosamines and their precursors in the above-mentioned toys and toy elastomeric materials. The detection of other N-nitrosamines and their precursors can be carried out by referring to this document after verification.
