Yongqiao goat: A dual-purpose goat species produced within the administrative boundaries of Yongqiao District, Suzhou City. Note: It features early sexual maturity, high reproductive capacity, good-quality hide, delicious meat, robust constitution, and well-proportioned body structure. 4 Breed Origin The Yongqiao goat is a local breed developed through natural selection and artificial breeding in the unique natural environment and climatic conditions of Yongqiao District, using locally produced feed. It belongs to a local group of Huangzhuang goats. 5 Breed Characteristics Head and neck: The head is broad at the top and narrow at the bottom, forming an inverted triangle. The face is slightly concave, with a beard and a pointed mouth. The ears are medium in size, with the tips either pointing backward or forward. The goats may have horns or be hornless. Male goats have large, upward-curved, outward-extending horns, while female goats have smaller, sickle-shaped horns. Some male goats may have a dewlap, while others do not. Neck and shoulders: The neck is moderately thick, of appropriate length, and well-proportioned to the body. The neck and shoulders are well-connected. Body type: The body is of medium size, well-proportioned, with a straight back and a slightly sloping rump. Male goats have a deep chest and well-developed forequarters, displaying masculine features. Female goats have well-developed hindquarters. Legs: The legs are straight, strong, and relatively long. The hooves are firm. The tail is short, small, and upward-curved. Skin and fur: The skin is compact and wrinkle-free, with a white color. The fur is short, coarse, and sparse, with a silky luster.
