Scope

This standard specifies three methods for determining the residual styrene monomer content in polystyrene (PS) and impact-resistant polystyrene (PS-I) using gas chromatography:
Method A - Dissolution method;
Method B - Dissolution-precipitation method;
Method C - Headspace method.
This standard is applicable to the determination of styrene monomer content in PS and PS-I, and is also applicable to the simultaneous determination of the content of other volatile aromatic hydrocarbons in PS and PS-I.
