Scope

This document provides guidelines for the description of field soils and their environmental backgrounds, applicable to natural and near-natural environments, as well as urban and industrial sites. Soil observation and measurement can be conducted at the project site level, plot level, different soil layers/soil formation layers at different depths, and in specific soil composition layers. This document also provides guidance for the description of artificially constructed material layers or soil layers that have not been altered by soil formation processes, as well as natural or artificially sourced coarse-grained materials. Note 1: Selectively record the data in Chapters 4 to 11 as needed. Note 2: GB/T 32724 specifies the general requirements for the description of soil survey information. Note 3: The sampling involved in this document is performed in accordance with ISO 18400.
