Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the method for measuring the viscosity of emulsified asphalt residues using a vacuum capillary tube. 1.2 Within the limits of the testing equipment's capabilities, this standard can also be used to determine the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids. 1.3 This standard can be used to characterize the rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluids as a function of shear rate under test conditions. This standard uses straight-necked open-end viscometers and U-tube viscometers for testing. Unless otherwise specified, the standard testing conditions are typically a temperature of 60°C and a vacuum of 300 mmHg ± 0.5 mmHg. The viscosity measurement range of this standard is 5 Pa·s to 50,000 Pa·s.
