Origin and Morphology 4.1 Origin This product belongs to the genus Pinellia of the Araceae family, specifically Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit. 4.2 Morphological Characteristics Qianbanxia is a perennial rhizomatous herb, reaching 10–30 cm in height. It has approximately 30 total roots, each 10–20 cm long. The roots grow relatively shallow in the soil, with very few lateral roots. The root hairs are short and underdeveloped, and they grow from the base of the tubers. The tubers are spherical, oval, or elliptical, with a diameter of 1–2 cm. They come in white, yellow, brown, red, or purple. The surface features yellow-brown leaf bases. The tubers have shortened nodes with extremely short internode distances. Bud primordia are located at the bud eyes, with 6–13 axillary buds growing at the top of the tubers.
