Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for water-spraying cultivation of rice, including terminology and definitions, land preparation, seeding, water-layer management, fertilization, pest and disease control, and harvesting. This document is applicable to water-spraying cultivation of rice in Ningxia. Main technical content: 3 Terminology and definitions The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. Water-spraying cultivation: A direct sowing method where seeds are sown in shallow water fields after deep plowing and irrigation to ensure sufficient moisture absorption. 4 Land preparation Deep plowing and weed removal: Deep plowing and weed removal are carried out after harvesting the previous crop, with a plowing depth of 25cm to 30cm. Spring land preparation: From late March to early April, level the field using a leveling instrument, with a height difference within the field ≤ 3cm. Rotary tillage or harrowing: From mid to late April, use a rotary tiller or disc harrow to till the soil 10cm to 15cm deep, then level it to achieve a flat, fragmented, and compact surface. 5 Seed selection Only varieties with a growth period of 155 days or less that have been approved by the national or regional authorities are eligible. Seed treatment 5.2.1 Chemical seed treatment Before sowing, select a clear day and use a fungicide containing Metalaxyl + Mancozeb as the main ingredient at a seed-to-fungicide ratio of 1:120 to 1:200, or a fungicide containing Metazachlor + Azoxystrobin at a seed-to-fungicide ratio of 1:300 to 1:500. After treatment, dry the seeds until their moisture content is below 14.5% and bag them for sowing. 5.2.2 Soaking and germination Soak the seeds for about 72 hours before sowing, then drain and germinate them.
