T/SSHT 001-2023 Geographical Indication - Shexian Walnut

Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions of Shexian walnuts, the protection scope of the geographical indication certification trademark, natural environment, planting and cultivation, and harvest management, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well as labeling, packaging, transportation, and storage. This document applies to fresh walnuts approved to use the "Shexian Walnut" geographical indication certification trademark. Main technical content: 1. Planting and cultivation, and harvest management 1.1 Planting and cultivation 1.1.1 Seedlings: Seedlings should be grown from high-quality seeds. The grading of seedlings shall refer to the relevant provisions of LY/T 2131. It is recommended to use seedlings with a stem diameter and height of not less than Grade I for afforestation. Seedling transplantation: Generally, seedlings need to be cultivated for 2-3 years before transplantation. Seedlings with a stem diameter of more than 1 cm, a height of more than 80 cm, well-developed roots, plump buds, no mechanical damage, and no pests or diseases should be transplanted in early spring. 1.1.2 Cultivation management: Walnut afforestation shall be carried out in accordance with DB34/T 350. Tea, Chinese yew, and Dendrobium officinale should be intercropped in walnut forests. Weeding in the forest should be carried out once or twice from mid-May to late August each year, with the cut grass and branches covered outside a radius of 1 m from the tree trunk. The promotion of mechanical grass cutting in walnut production areas, the application of organic fertilizers, and the use of biological pesticides to prevent pests and diseases are conducive to protecting rare and precious tree species such as wild Dendrobium officinale and Guanyin tofu. Pest and disease control shall be carried out in accordance with DB34/T 349. 1.2 Harvest management 1.2.1 Fresh walnut harvesting should be carried out after the White Dew season in early Septembe
