Scope

Scope: This document stipulates the feeding and watering, farming environment, and management of alpaca welfare breeding. This document applies to the construction and requirements of large-scale alpaca farms; Main technical content: 3. Terms and definitions: The following terms and definitions apply to this document. - Alpaca (Cashmere Goat): A dual-coat breed of goat (inner cashmere, outer coarse wool) primarily raised for cashmere production. - Farm Animal Welfare: Ensuring that animals receive proper care during farming, transportation, slaughter, and disposal, providing adequate nutrition, environmental conditions, and humane treatment. Reducing animal suffering and stress responses, improving animal survival quality and health. - Environmental Enrichment: Measures to continuously improve animal living environments to meet their needs. - Abnormal Behavior: Unintentional or harmful behaviors towards themselves or other individuals. - Housing Production System: A farming method where animals are completely raised and managed in dedicated facilities using artificial feeding and management. - Grazing Production System: A farming method where animals graze on natural pastures, freely forage and drink water, and receive supplemental feed during winter and spring when nutritional intake is insufficient. - Semi-Housing Production System: A farming method combining housing and grazing systems. - Shearing Cashmere Fiber: The process of removing cashmere from alpaca during the molting stage using shearing equipment. - Combing Cashmere Fiber: The process of manually collecting shed cashmere using specialized combs during the molting stage, also known as "plucking". - Humane Slaughter: A slaughter method that reduces alpaca stress, fear, pain, and physical injury (including pre-slaughter procedures). - Euthanasia: A humane method of ending an alpaca's life when it suffers from severe pain due to illness or injury, ensuring it loses consciousness
