GB/T 44764-2024 Petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries—Metallic materials resistant to sulfide stress cracking in corrosive petroleum refining environments
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the requirements for metal materials resistant to sulfide stress cracking (SSC) in acidic oil refining and related processing environments, where H2S is present as a gas or dissolved in a hydrocarbon-containing or hydrocarbon-free aqueous phase (liquid water). This document does not include design specifications, nor does it cover wet H2S cracking, environmental fracture, corrosion, or other failure modes. This document is intended for use by refineries, equipment manufacturers, engineering contractors, and construction contractors. Specifically, this document aims to prevent SSC in equipment (including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pipelines, valve bodies, pumps, and compressors) and components used in the oil refining industry. The SSC prevention requirements for carbon steel under Category P-No.1 in Volume IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) are aligned with NACE SP 0472. This document applies to all equipment components exposed to acidic refining environments (see Chapter 6), where SSC failure would: a) jeopardize the integrity of the pressurized system; b) impair the basic functionality of the equipment; and/or c) hinder the equipment's return to operational status after continued exposure to pressure.
