Scope
This standard specifies the methods for identifying the material of natural leather by combining sensory methods, comparison with physical samples, and microscopy, including the summary of methods, equipment, identification methods, general procedures for identification, identification results, and result reports. This standard is applicable to the identification of the material of full-grain, modified, suede, and split leather of common natural leathers such as pigs, cattle, buffaloes, goats, and sheep. This standard is also applicable to the identification of leather materials from deer, ostriches, kangaroos, seals, fish, snakes, and lizards.
