Scope

This document describes the conditions and methods of metal and alloy exposure in surface seawater, and stipulates the evaluation requirements for seawater corrosion of metals and alloys, so as to make meaningful comparisons of exposure in different locations. This document is applicable to exposure ranges from important wet areas above the water level (splash zones and tidal zones) to depths below the water level with a composition similar to surface seawater. Due to the variability and complexity of seawater, in order to reduce the impact of variable factors, the exposure time is usually more than one year.
