Scope

This document specifies the requirements for the acceptance level of magnetic particle inspection displays of defects in welds of ferromagnetic steel.
The acceptance levels specified in this document are primarily applicable to inspections during the manufacturing phase.
Note: The acceptance levels specified in this document can also be used for in-service inspections.
The acceptance levels specified in this document are based on the detection capability expected when using the techniques specified in ISO 17638 and the parameters recommended in Appendix A. The acceptance levels are related to welding documents, application documents, technical specifications, or regulations, etc. The relationship between the acceptance levels and ISO 5817 is described in ISO 17635.
This document does not specify acceptance levels for group displays.
