Scope

This document describes a non-contact optical measurement method for the circumference of cigarettes and filter rods, and specifies the standard conditions for the measurement.
This document is applicable to the measurement of the circumference of cigarettes, filter rods, and similar cylindrical tobacco products.
Note 1: Non-contact measurement techniques are described in Appendix A.
Note 2: Contact or pneumatic measurement methods are alternative methods for measuring the nominal diameter of cigarettes and filter rods (see Appendix B), and are not within the scope of this document.
