Scope

This document specifies the dimensions, tolerances, and marking requirements for the connection threads (referred to as API threads) and gauges of pipes, round threaded casings, round threaded oil pipes, and bias trapezoidal threaded casings used in the oil and gas industry, as well as the instruments and methods used to inspect API threads and gauges.
This document is applicable to the processing, measurement, and inspection of threads on casings, oil pipes, and pipes used in the oil and gas industry.
This document is also applicable to gauges used for controlling thread acceptance, including single-parameter gauges and instruments used to inspect API threads.
