T/BSGC 002-2023 Macaque kiwi branch and bud management technical regulations
Basic Information
Scope
Main Technical Content: 4.1 Young Tree Branch Bud Management After planting in spring, select and prune (2–3 buds) above the grafting site to cultivate the main trunk. Tie bamboo poles to the trellis and remove other sprouting buds. 4.2 Summer When the main trunk exceeds the trellis by 10–15 cm, prune it back to 15–20 cm below the trellis. After sprouting, select two strong branches to cross and tie along the row as permanent main vines. Remove other sprouting buds, and shorten the main vines to the point where they meet neighboring plants. Maintain a straight trunk and main vines during cultivation. 4.3 Winter For un-trellised young trees, prune to the point where the main trunk has sufficient buds. If the trunk is weak, prune it back. Regrow strong new shoots and re-tie them to the trellis the following year. For trellised trees, select reserve branches every 20–25 cm on both sides of the main vines and prune excess branches to (1–2) buds. 5. Fruit Tree Branch Bud Management 5.1 Spring When the fruiting mother branches sprout to 5–8 cm in length on a clear day, select and retain effective buds or reserve branches. Remove auxiliary buds, weak buds, and misplaced back buds. 5.2 Summer 5.2.1 Shape the main vines by retaining reserve branches 30–40 cm apart on the same side. When reserve branches reach 80 cm or more, tie them vertically to the trellis above the main vine. Prune the reserve branches to refine their tips. Remove adventitious and fruiting branches near the main trunk and main vines. 5.2.2 Pinch or remove leaves from fruiting and nutrient branches within 30 cm of the main vines when they become thin. Retain (3–4) leaves on suitable adventitious branches to promote secondary branching. Do not pinch shortened fruiting branches. Remove leaves from branches 30 cm or more above the main vines. 5.2.3 Prune kiwi main vines and fruiting mother branches to retain reserve branches. Remove unused adventitious, weak, or diseased branches. Ma
