Scope

1.1 This document specifies a small-scale screening procedure in the laboratory for comparing the relative combustion performance of vertical soft thin plastic samples exposed to low-energy ignition sources. It is suitable for samples that cannot be tested using Method B of ISO 1210 due to twisting or shrinking during ignition.
1.2 This document specifies a method for measuring the flame and afterglow time of samples.
1.3 The grading described in Appendix A can be used for quality control or pre-selection of product raw materials. The grading determined using this test method is only applicable to the materials used in the measurement of the samples.
Note: The test results are influenced by the material components, such as pigments, fillers, and flame retardant concentrations.
