GB/Z 18620.6-2025 Code of inspection practice—Part 6:Bevel gear measurement methods
Basic Information
Scope
This document describes the measurement methods for unassembled bevel gears, hypoid gears, and gear pairs, and specifies the requirements for practical operations.
Note: In the following sections of this document, bevel gears and hypoid gears are collectively referred to as bevel gears.
Chapter 5 of GB/T 11365—2019 provides the tolerance values for bevel gears, which are used to calculate the maximum allowable values for specified tolerance classes.
This document combines the measurement methods for bevel gears with practical operations (see Chapter 5), which enables a unified inspection process. Manufacturers and purchasers can use this method for measurement, and its accuracy and reproducibility are compatible with the tolerance classes specified in ISO 17485.
The required and optional measurement methods are described in Chapter 6 of GB/T 11365—2019.
This document applies to the measurement of bevel gear parts defined in ISO 17485. It does not apply to the measurement of closed gearboxes, which include speed reducers, speed boosters, gear motors, shaft-mounted speed reducers, high-speed gearboxes, and other closed gearboxes manufactured according to specified power, speed, transmission ratio, or application environments.
In practice, using accuracy grades to infer the performance of gears requires extensive experience, so the accuracy measurement values of unassembled bevel gears should not be directly used to determine the service performance of bevel gear pairs.
Tolerance values for bevel gears that exceed the scope specified in ISO 17485 need to be determined based on specific application requirements, and it may be necessary to set a tolerance value that is lower than that calculated using the formula in ISO 17485.
