GB/T 7582-2025 Acoustics—Statistical distribution of hearing thresholds related to age and gender
GB/T 7582-2025 Acoustics—Statistical distribution of hearing thresholds related to age and gender
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the descriptive statistical information on the deviation values of hearing thresholds in normal individuals of different ages under the condition of single-ear hearing test. For individuals aged 18 to 80, within the hearing test frequency range of 125 Hz to 8,000 Hz, the following content is specified:
a) The expected value of the hearing threshold relative to the median hearing threshold at the age of 18;
b) The expected statistical distribution above and below the median.
For individuals over the age of 70, the median and statistical distribution in the frequency range of 3,000 Hz to 8,000 Hz are for reference only.
This document also provides reference information on the expected median in the hearing test frequency range of 9,000 Hz to 12,500 Hz for individuals aged 22 to 80.
The data in this document are suitable for estimating the degree of hearing loss caused by a specific factor in a population. If the observed group is normal individuals of the ear who are only affected by this specific factor, then this comparison is valid. Noise exposure is an example of a specific factor. For the application of noise exposure in hearing assessment, some data from this document are selected to form Database A of ISO 1999.
Note 1: GB/T 14366—2017 adopts ISO 1999:2013 equivalently, and Database A is based on the previous version of ISO 7029.
The data in this document are also suitable for evaluating an individual's hearing by comparing their hearing threshold with the distribution of normal hearing thresholds in the same age group. It cannot accurately assess which part of an individual's hearing loss is due to the adverse effects of aging on hearing and which part is caused by other factors such as noise.
