Scope

This part of GB/T 223 specifies the method for determining the nitrogen content in steel and alloys using the distillation separation and spectrophotometry with indophenol blue. This part is applicable to the determination of nitrogen content in low-alloy steel with a mass fraction in the range of 0.0006% to 0.050% and in high-alloy steel with a mass fraction in the range of 0.010% to 0.050%. This part is not applicable to the determination of nitrogen content in steel and alloys containing silicon nitride or with a silicon content exceeding 0.6%.
