Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, seedling cultivation, planting, nursery management, and pest and disease control techniques for soapnut cultivation. This standard applies to the cultivation of soapnut. Main technical content: 4. Seedling cultivation 4.1 Nursery preparation: The nursery site should be selected in a fertile soil with convenient irrigation. The land should be prepared in strips and built into flat or high beds. Before sowing, the soil should be disinfected. A 1.3m-wide and high ridge should be opened, and 3,000-5,000kg of organic fertilizer should be applied per 667m2 as base fertilizer. Seeds should be sown in strips with a spacing of 20-25cm. 4.2 Seed selection: Select 30-100-year-old mature mother trees with straight trunks, fast growth, and well-developed seeds for fruiting. The seeds should be collected in mid-to-late October. The collected fruits should be spread out and exposed to the sun. After drying, the pods should be crushed or rolled to remove the shells, and the seeds should be screened and dried. After drying, the seeds should be stored in bags. 4.3 Seed treatment: The soapnut seeds should be peeled and soaked in warm water (45-60°C) for 48 hours. After the seeds have fully absorbed water, they should be screened (with a screen size of 1cm) and the hard seeds should be soaked and treated again. 4.4 Sowing: Spring sowing is recommended, generally in mid-April. The sowing amount is about 25kg of dry seeds per 667m2. About 10-15 seeds should be sown per meter of sowing trench, and the soil should be covered with 2-3cm of soil after sowing. Regularly keep the soil moist. 4.5 Seedling management: During the seedling stage, water the seedlings in time to maintain soil moisture, weeding and loosening the soil in a timely manner to prevent soil compaction and damage to the seedlings.
