Scope

This standard specifies two methods for determining the permeability of rubber to volatile liquids when they diffuse into the atmosphere by measuring the permeation rate.
This method is only applicable to sheet materials and coated fabrics with a thickness between 0.2 mm and 3.0 mm.
This method is limited to the determination of permeation rates greater than 0.1 g/(m2·h).
This method is particularly suitable for comparing the permeation rates of the same liquid on different materials and the permeation rates of several liquids on the same material.
Method A: It requires refilling the liquid, and is used for testing mixtures of liquids with different permeation rates.
Method B: It does not require refilling the liquid, and is used for testing single-component liquids.
