Scope

This document defines the terms and definitions of all types of shutter exposure times used in cameras, specifies the exposure time markings and their tolerances for all types of shutters, and defines the characteristics of all types of mechanical shutters installed in cameras that affect exposure control, shutter closure, and flash synchronization. The conventional manufacturing and quality control test methods described in this document are applicable to tests conducted near the focal plane of the camera and are not suitable for fully assembled digital cameras.
