Scope

This document specifies the metallographic determination method for determining the microstructure of Ti(C,N)-based hard alloys and WC/Co-type hard alloys containing other cubic carbide phases using optical or electron microscopes.
This document is applicable to sintered hard alloys (sintered carbide hard alloys or metal ceramics), in which the main hard phases are inorganic carbides and nitrides. This document is also applicable to tests using the intercept method to determine the size and distribution of phases.
