Scope

1.0.1 In order to reasonably design foam fire extinguishing systems, ensure their construction quality and functional use, reduce fire hazards, and protect personal and property safety, this standard is formulated. 1.0.2 This standard applies to the design, construction, acceptance, and maintenance management of foam fire extinguishing systems installed in new, renovated, or expanded projects. It does not apply to foam fire extinguishing systems installed in ships, offshore oil platforms, and other locations. 1.0.3 Foam fire extinguishing systems should not be selected for sites containing the following substances: 1. Chemical substances and strong oxidants that can rapidly oxidize in an airless environment, such as nitrocellulose and explosives. 2. Reactive metals and chemical substances that react dangerously with water, such as potassium, sodium, alkylaluminum, and phosphorus pentoxide. 1.0.4 Air foam fire extinguishing systems are not suitable for low-boiling-point flammable liquid storage tanks with a boiling point below 45°C and a molar percentage of components C5 and below not less than 30%. 1.0.5 In addition to the provisions of this standard, the design, construction, acceptance, and maintenance management of foam fire extinguishing systems shall also comply with the relevant national standards currently in force.
